Why use a REALTOR®?
Buying a home is a significant step. It can be exciting and rewarding, but there are a lot of things to consider in the process. A REALTOR® can help you navigate your way through issues such as inspections, financing, arbitration, and more. And if you're selling your home, a REALTOR® is an invaluable resource, coordinating open houses and ensuring full disclosure and due diligence. From asbestos to termites and everything in between, there's a world of microscopic worries, but with a REALTOR® on board they'll stay just that.
Not every real estate licensee is a REALTOR®.
The term "REALTOR®" is a highly respected professional designation. It signifies membership in an association of REALTORS® chartered by a state association of REALTORS® with the National Association of REALTORS®.
It's a serious professional commitment. Membership represents a promise of integrity, accountability, and principle: When you work with a REALTOR®, you're working with someone who has taken the extra step to become a member of an association of real estate professionals, and who has pledged to adhere to the association's strict Code of Ethics. For any potential home buyer or seller, that's a pledge that brings peace of mind.
Look for the R®
Only association members are allowed to use the registered trademark REALTOR®. Only association members have agreed to be bound by a Code of Ethics. As a result, the term "REALTOR®" has become synonymous with competency, fairness, and integrity.
REALTORS® are held to a higher standard of professionalism. Put simply, they are expected to know more about the real estate business and to conform to a rigorous moral and ethical code. Real estate licensees are accountable only to the Department of Real Estate, and only for legal matters. When you choose a REALTOR®, you are not only ensuring that your transaction will be handled professionally, but also that your rights in real estate activities are protected by the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
